Canning

I've been busy canning the past couple of nights.

I made a batch of mustard pickles last night.  The recipe was from "The Best of the Best" cookbook.
It was a sweet sound to hear the pop, pop, pop, before I went to bed.

I've continued with the canning tonight.  I made a batch of blueberry jam...which might turn into blueberry syrup...it just wouldn't thicken, even after adding extra pectin.  Oh well, the syrup will still be yummy.  I'm also doing a batch of salsa.  I'm pretty excited about the salsa...it's tasting very yummy!

  1. Pop, pop, pop. What a sweet sound. Sounds like you're having lots of fun. We're on a bit of a roll here as well. Hoping to get mom to help with one more batch of peaches before she leaves. Happy canning.

  2. Love the popping sounds - very satifying! I tried making blueberry jam a few years ago and ended up with blueberry syrup as well. Was pretty good on pancakes though!

  3. Yeah canning! Yeah, a few friends in N. Van have mentioned that too have ended up with blueberry syrup. Maybe I'll try following the certo recipe next time. I can't wait to eat it on pancakes. Yummy!

  5. An impressive amount of cans! You will be surprised, but it will take you some time to work through those, even once you've divided the cans by all the canners. So, no new posts? No time for crafting these days?
